POSITION DESCRIPTION
Database Administrator
Location: Pleasanton, CA
Date: 05/01/2012
Responsibilities
- Support a 24X7 Microsoft SQL environment
- Continually monitor database performance in multiple environments for performance and potential issues
- Work closely with Database Developers on database design
- Deploy and manage code and data changes
- Responsible for planning and monitoring database security
- Responsible for daily data archiving and data warehouse management
- Work with DB team and others to resolve application issues
- Verify daily successful backups for multiple databases
- Help in the planning and implementation of disaster recovery plan
- Work with DB team and others on capacity planning, scalability, and overall application performance
Knowledge & Experience Requirements
- 3+ years experience with Microsoft SQL Database
- 1+ years of database monitoring and performance tuning
- 1+ years of database development experience
- Must have strong troubleshooting skills
- Must be familiar with MS SQL disaster recovery and backup practices
- Experience with data warehouse operations
- Must have excellent written and oral communication
- Must be able to work in a collaborative and teamwork environment
- Experience with Visual Studio Team System a plus
- Experience in ETL development using SSIS a plus
- Microsoft Operations Manager experience a plus
- MS SQL replication experience a plus
- BA or BS degree preferred
